NYC

Exactly two weeks ago I arrived in New York City filled with joy and excitement.  The idea of being in the greatest city in the world with the abundant opportunities and activities that any social twenty-something would desire.

More and more I see God's plan in all this.  It was such a smooth transition.  So smooth in fact that I was able to get a job less than a week after arriving here.  I am staying with my cousins that have treated me with nothing but love and warmth.  I have enough money to last me a few months.  God has laid the foundations; now it is up to me to build on that foundation.

It rained a lot the first weekend I was here.  I have never seen it rain that hard before!

One of the best parts of NYC in the summer are the free events.  Free movies in the park in Queens on the East River looking at the Upper East Side.
I saw a filming of some movie or TV show!

The Last of the California Sunrises

Just about every morning for the past 24 years I woke up to the sun rising over California.  It's rays warming the varied landscape and giving comfort to my unsettled mind.  The Californian sun never changes; that thought drove me every day, knowing that each day was going to be okay.

In that final week of waking up to the California sunrises I knew where home will always be; cities on the edge of the mighty Pacific with its busy veins in which we call interstates but with a pulse that beats just a little slower.  Most of all home is in the open arms of my loved ones that will never give up on me.  Knowing that I have a place to call home is something I will never take for granted.  I will back...I know I will.

One Week

It is a fact that in one week I will be on a plane to New York City.  In one day I will go from a Califorian to a New Yorker.  This thought has hit me more than once in these past months, and I know that within this week this is all that will go through my mind.

I will leave the only home that I know, amazing people that love me, and all the comfort and support that one could possibly ask for.  Tonight I will celebrate my depature with more people than I though I knew.  It makes me so happy to know that so many people care about me.  I think about the lives I had affected and the people that have made an impact on my life as well.  Each person represents a time, a memory, a soft spot in my heart.  Whatever adventure God takes me on, I will never forget my roots.
